Canada Increases Immigration Targets for 2024-2025
The Canadian government has announced its new immigration targets for the next three years. The plan aims
to welcome over 1.3 million new permanent residents between 2024 and 2025, with a focus on economic
growth, family reunification, and humanitarian efforts.
The new targets represent an increase from the previous plan and demonstrate Canada's commitment to
welcoming immigrants to support the country's post-pandemic recovery and long-term prosperity.
Express Entry Draws Resume with Increased CRS Cut-Off
After a temporary pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Express Entry draws have resumed with a higher
Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off score. The latest draw, held on July 6, 2022, invited 1,500
candidates with a minimum CRS score of 557.
This increase in the cut-off score is attributed to the large pool of highly skilled candidates in the
Express Entry system. Prospective immigrants are advised to continue working on improving their CRS scores
to increase their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Canada Launches New Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence Pathway
To support the retention of skilled workers and international graduates already in Canada, the government
has introduced a new temporary public policy. This policy allows eligible temporary residents working in
essential occupations or who have recently graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution to apply
for permanent residence.
The new pathway recognizes the significant contributions of temporary residents during the pandemic and
aims to help them establish permanent ties to Canada. Eligible candidates are encouraged to review the
requirements and submit their applications before the specified deadline.
